English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

Each school with 21 or more English learners, regardless of language, must form a functioning English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC).  The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is an important committee comprised of parents of English Language learners that provides input and makes recommendations to the site’s principal and staff on programs and services for English learners.  ELAC must also make recommendations to the School Site Council on developing the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) as it relates to programs and services for English Language Learners.  The ELAC also is a great way to inform parents about school processes, strategies to increase students’ academic performance, home/school communications, testing, becoming involved in the life of the school, and developing leadership skills.

Comité Asesor de Estudiantes que Están Aprendiendo Inglés (ELAC)

Cada escuela que cuente con 21 ó más estudiantes que están aprendiendo inglés, sin importar el idioma, debe formar un Comité Asesor de Estudiantes que Están Aprendiendo (ELAC -según sus siglas en inglés).  El Comité Asesor de Estudiantes que Están Aprendiendo Inglés (ELAC) es un comité importante que aporta opiniones y brinda recomendaciones al director y personal escolar acerca de programas y servicios para los estudiantes que están aprendiendo inglés.  ELAC también debe brindar recomendaciones al Concilio del Plantel Escolar para el desarrollo del Plan Único para el Rendimiento Estudiantil (SPSA-según sus siglas en inglés)  en lo que se refiere a programas y servicios para estudiantes que están aprendiendo inglés.
